Maxillary Left Buccal

There are three different techniques to work on the maxillary left buccal using direct vision from the 1 o'clock position.

1. Use the third finger and ErgoFinger® together to retract the cheek. First, retract the cheek with your middle finger and the ErgoFinger®.
2. Use the mirror to retract. Place first the mirror, then grab onto it.
3. Use the pen grip and your third finger to retract the cheek.

Retracting the cheek only with the ErgoFinger's nozzle part is not recommended to prevent any strain on your finger.

TIP FOR ERGONOMIC POSTURE
Recline the patient enough so that the patient's mouth is at elbow level. Asking the patient to slightly close will relax the cheek muscles, making it easier to move the cheeks out of the way and give you more room to work.
